Category: Other Gadgets - Date: July 24, 2011 - Discussion: No comments

I wanted to share this retro looking clock with you today. I figure this type of item can make the perfect gift for the person who has everything, because they probably don’t have something like this.

It’s a stylish faux retro clock that would look good sitting on anyone’s desk. This auto flip clock is gear operated with flip down minute and hour display. It flips every 60 seconds. The base, spine and frame are made of metal while the flip down number swatches are made from durable acrylic. You’ll need one D battery to keep it running.

Samsung Captivate From AT&T

Category: Cell Phones - Date: June 12, 2011 - Discussion: No comments

AT&T is widely known as the carrier for the iPhone, but die hard Android fans can call AT&T their home with the Samsung Captivate. And since it runs on Android you can download any of their 80,000+ apps in the Android Market to enhance your smartphone experience.

Visually, the Samsung Captivate sports a 4 inch screen which is bigger than the 3.5 inch iPhone 4 but smaller than the 4.3 inch HTC Evo 4G and Motorola Droid X. This Super AMOLED screen has a 800×480 resolution for extra wide viewing. The size and weight is comparable to an iPhone4. It measures 2.5 inches wide, 4.8 inches tall and is 0.4 inches thick. It weighs in at a mere 4.2 ounces.

Olympus Pen E-P1 12.3MP DSLR

Category: Digital Cameras - Date: May 20, 2011 - Discussion: No comments

Back in 1959 the Olympus Pen was first released and sold a whopping 17 million units. Now some 50 years later Olympus is releasing a modern version of this legendary camera.

I wanted to review the Pen E-P1 because it was the perfect blend between an SLR and a point and shoot camera. If you’re used to the size and simplicity of a point and shoot camera you can still use the Olympus Pen E-P1. It comes with an auto mode that automatically evaluates the scene so you can get the best shot possible.

HP Touchsmart tm2 Laptop / Tablet

Category: Laptops - Date: May 11, 2011 - Discussion: No comments

I’ve got my hands on a lovely HP Touchsmart tm2t laptop. After the success of the HP Touchsmart desktop series HP decided to take a big leap and try a touchscreen laptop. Their first attempt, the t2z model was a failure, so I wasn’t expecting this one to be that much better. But I was pleasantly surprised with both the ease of use and the performance after I sampled this unit.

Visually the tm2 is stunning with its brushed aluminum finish and riptide design etched in. The screen is 12.1 inches, which makes it much bigger than an iPad but considerably smaller than your standard powerhouse laptop. It’s a good size since it’s small enough to use as a tablet and yet large enough to still be used as your everyday laptop. The screen rotates 180 degrees and lies flat so it converts into a tablet with Windows 7. I’m a big fan of the iPad but could never make it a laptop replacement because of the lack of a keyboard and the lack of the windows operating system.

Dropbox Online Storage Review

Category: Other Gadgets - Date: May 7, 2011 - Discussion: No comments

Dropbox is an online storage system which allows you to keep the same files on multiple computers. As long as you have Dropbox installed on your different computers you will have access to whatever files are in your Dropbox folder. This can be useful if you have a work computer and a laptop at home and wish to keep your files in sync. I’m sure you can imagine storing files to a flash drive and taking that back and forth from work back home can become quite a hassle.
