Sony Vaio Laptop Review Introduction

The VAIO notebook has a thin, lightweight body that makes it simple to carry around from one place to the next. Sometimes the best mobile solution is one that just makes it easier to transport. The energy efficient Sony VAIO notebook stuns the competition with long-lasting battery power.

Sony Vaio Laptop Design

It’s small and light (4.4lbs), but it stands out due to its cool purplish-grey case color. It’s a uniquely shaped notebook, almost square in dimensions. All of the input and output ports lie on the right and left sides of this notebook, there are no ports whatsoever on the back. The 11.1-inch display with a 1,024 x 768 native resolution on the VAIO is bright and text is crisp and easy to read.

Sony Vaio Laptop Features

Sony VAIO’s long list of available specs (some fixed, some configurable) speaks to everyone from speed fiends to budget hounds. You can buy the system with a Pentium M, Pentium 4-M, or mobile Celeron processor rated anywhere from 1.2GHz to 2.4GHz. Main DDR SDRAM memory runs at a fast 333MHz and comes in increments ranging from 256MB to 2GB. Hard drives measure 40GB, 60GB, or 80GB, but all offer the same 4,200 rpm speed. Two secondary storage drives are available: a DVD/CD-RW combo or a DVD-RW.

Sony Vaio Laptop Performance

Sony VAIOs are stylish and powerful with good battery life. The hard drive for this machine is the rather slow standard of 4,200rpm speed, the advantage of a slower drive is of course longer battery life though. All V505 notebooks come
with a standard 11.1 inch XGA display, ATI 9200 32MB graphics card and if you order internal wireless it will be the Intel Pro/wireless 802.11b/g mini-PCI card.

What’s included in the package

The Sony VAIO comes with various music, photo, and video applications. Highlights include several Sony apps, such as DVGate Plus, for importing video from a digital video (DV) camera, then editing and saving the streams to your system or to a disc; PictureGear Studio, for arranging pictures in online photo albums, on digital postcards, and more; and SonicStage, for splicing together music clips. For more cash, Sony will preinstall Adobe Photoshop and Premiere.
You can choose either Windows XP Home or XP Professional as the operating system, and office suite options include Microsoft Office Small Business and Standard Editions, as well as the pared-down Works 7.0 minisuite.

Conclusion

The VAIO is a nice notebook in that it’s light, stylish and offers excellent performance. It comes with many of the input and output ports you’ll need. A great screen and decent graphics performance for such a small notebook are big pluses.

Sony Cyber Shot DSC P200

Sony Cybershot P-200 Review Introduction

The Sony P200 is an excellent option for rank beginners and more experienced users alike, a nearly ideal “pocket” camera to pack along when there just isn’t room or time to accommodate a larger or more complex model. Offering a high-resolution 7.2 megapixel CCD, a 3x optical zoom lens, and an expanded range of nine preset Scene modes to choose from, the P200 is a capable, yet very compact, digital camera.

Sony Cybershot P-200 Design

The Sony DSC-P200 is compact, stylish, and ready to go anywhere. It features: 7.1 megapixels (effective), 2.0-inch color LCD monitor, 3x optical zoom, 2x digital zoom, autofocus only, program and manual exposure, JPEG file formats, and proprietary Lithium-Ion battery. Measuring just 4.13 x 2.13 x 1.13 inches (105 x 51.5 x 28 millimeters) and weighing only 6.3 ounces (180 grams) with the battery and memory card installed, the P200 fits easily into small pockets or purses.

Sony Cybershot P-200 Features

The Sony DSC-P200 Cyber-shot digital camera gives you professional quality features in a compact, point-and-shoot design. With the Sony Cybershot DSCP200 digital camera, extremely high-resolution images are within your grasp, for the
7.2 effective Megapixel Super HAD CCD means that your images will print larger and will carry finer detail. The Sony Real Imaging Processor is what makes the DSC-Cyber-shot P200 highly energy efficient, as well as speeding the camera
operation- you’re sure never to miss a shot due to shutter lag! Images are further enhanced with the 14-Bit DXP A/D Conversion for the extended contrast range and Multi-Pattern Measuring for optimum exposure.

Sony Cybershot P-200 Performance

I tend to find that the majority of Sony digital cameras are easy to use and the DSC P200 is no exception. If all you want to do is turn the camera on and start taking pictures then you can. If you would like to be a little more adventurous
and try using the scene modes and other features then they are relatively easy to get to grips with. Shooting movies, reviewing images you have already taken, setting the flash etc. are all easy to do. The menu system is also straightforward and you should soon start to find your way around without too much trouble.

What’s included in the package

Supplied digital camera accessories: Rechargeable lithium-ion battery, Battery charger, AV cable, USB cable, Wrist strap, 32MB Memory Stick, Software CD-ROM, Instruction manual.

Conclusion

The features available on the DSC P200 are a clear step up from a basic point and shoot model. Although this is not an ultra slim digital camera it still has a relatively compact design and you should have no problem carrying it around
with you. This camera is likely to suit someone who is looking for a camera that is easy to use, can cater for all the usual social photo opportunities, but has an extra touch of class and quality.
